Session Two

July 29, 2010

Last night we had another teleconference session utilizing” Illuminate Live”. The session was held and directed successfully. Nine of us participated, Bronwyn, Veronique, Jon, Katie, Louise, Rachel, Liz, Kevin and myself.  At the beginning Bronwyn asked us to introduce ourselves and talk briefly about what we do and why we are doing this course. Participants started introducing themselves and it sounded that they were all looking forward to doing this course. I had already known Kevin, Jon, Katie and Louise. It also seems that this facility” Illuminate Live” is a very effective teleconferencing tool.  There were a multiplicity of icons and functions enabled and embedded in this online software.  I tried to get familiar with the various tools and to some extent I was able to use and get to know what some of the tools were. I did not use many tools as I was not quite certain what they would perform and did not want to ruin an event or interrupt a chat session.

Bronwyn introduced some aspects of the course and retrieved related pages and materials and displayed them on the screen. Some participants had a few concerns and Bronwyn responded accordingly.  We were asked to find a partner to work with to do the evaluation and a case study. I had chosen my partner already, Louise Rummel.  Louise and I do the same subjects, health studies at MIT. She is a senior lecturer at the Nursing Dept. at MIT.

I believe Bronwyn has successfully recorded the session and everything is archived and therefore I am not going to talk more about the session.

Session One

July 26, 2010

Today was the first day of this course. In the morning after receiving an email from Bronwyn Hegarty reminding us of the requirements of this course (Evaluation of eLearning for Effective Practice Guidebook), I applied or a membership to join an email group to get in touch with others in the class and created an account on the wiki page designed for this course. I included a brief introduction about myself and what I do. I retrieved the materials and course information arranged by the course designer and had a quick look at the course timetable and realized that there was a teleconference scheduled at 4:00 pm. I followed the instructions and was able to access the and join the teleconference successfully.  I was very lucky to ask Bronwyn Hegarty a couple of questions as regards to wikieducator and the course in general.

Next web conference is: 28 July - 18:30 – 19:30
